Book signings & lectures

After my books are published, I go on tour. Which means I’ll be on TV and signing books near you. Often, I teach cooking classes or speak to groups in libraries, museums, clubs, at book festivals, and in homes. My past appearances include the Smithsonian’s American History Museum, Museum of the American Revolution, the Acorn Club, Centennial Club, Margaret Mitchell House, and countless book festivals as well as meetings of organizations such as the Daughters of the American Revolution. Check out my Events page for an up-to-date schedule. My talks usually focus on the most recent book, but I can always speak about:

Consulting

From recipe testing to media appearances to understanding consumer behavior in order to drive sales, I do it. From researching old regional recipes and foodways to solving problems in the kitchen, I understand food, recipes, and how to cook in today’s fast-paced world. I have worked with companies large and small. Before the word “consulting” was coined, I was just helping people out with information they can use.

  • 30 years of recipe development and food styling experience

  • Able to create recipe collections that span decades

Product Development

After becoming The Cake Mix Doctor and learning the ins and outs of every cake mix on the grocery shelf, I created my own line of baking mixes. They are all-natural, which was important to me., and they began with a from-scratch family cake recipe. I really enjoy product development and turning it into a successful venture on the shelf. I understand:

  • Working with a co-packer

  • Getting the product on the shelf & marketing to support the product
